Samantha Goren, HBSC, RD

Samantha Goren, HBSC,RD is a Registered Dietitian and founder of FoodHome Co.

With over 10 year’s experience as a Dietitian, Samantha relates to what it’s like to balance eating healthy, a healthy lifestyle and real life.

Samantha spent the first 7 years of her career working as a Clinical Dietitian at Toronto General Hospital. Samantha worked in their world-renowned Eating Disorders Program as well as The Employee Wellness Program for Toronto General, Toronto Western and Princess Margaret. Samantha has been a group facilitator for Sheena’s Place, an Eating Disorder Education Centre.

Samantha operates a private practice in Toronto, Ontario where she counsels clients for eating disorders, emotional eating and healthy lifestyle eating. Samantha also runs FoodHome Co. a website dedicated to creating food and lifestyle content that you can enjoy and incorporate into your daily life.

Samantha graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an HBSc in Food and Nutrition. She went on to complete her dietetic internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Samantha is a member of Dietitian’s of Canada and is registered with the College of Dietitian’s of Ontario. Samantha has completed specialized training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindful Eating and Culinary Arts.

SAMANTHA’S APPROACH

Because of Samantha’s background in eating disorders, she’s extremely passionate about the importance of having a healthy relationship with food. She puts a strong emphasis on balance and moderation in all of her nutritional counselling and believes all foods can fit.

Samantha uses a holistic lifestyle approach in her counselling and assesses all aspects of her clients’ wellbeing. Nutrition, stress, sleep, relationships, physical activity and psychological well-being. Because of Samantha’s specialized background and training, she incorporates various psychology principles such as mindfulness, CBT, and DBT into her counselling.

Samantha’s lifestyle approach means she makes recommendations which are both manageable and sustainable long-term. Samantha will work closely with you to develop a customized plan to meet your needs, while not having to alter your entire lifestyle.
